Police throughout the county are honored for their service and accomplishments.

Distinguished service award 2020

Hopewell Township Police Chief Brian P. Uhrmacher received the 36th Annual Distinguished Service Award on July 27, 2020, at the Hopewell Township Municipal Building. Chief Uhrmacher was chosen by previous award recipients, and Beaver Valley Chiefs of Police President Ronald Leindecker (New Sewickley Township Police Department) presented the award to him. Chief Uhrmacher received the award for outstanding achievements within Beaver County, the Chiefs of Police Association, and his police department.

Accreditation

New Sewickley Township Police Department became the first police department in Beaver County to be fully accredited by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission. To be accredited, the department had to meet 140 standards and 100 sub-sections of those standards. The process took ten years to accomplish and emphasizes transparency and accountability. The formal accreditation was awarded on August 4 in Harrisburg.
