beaver county Law enforcement memorial

The Beaver County Law Enforcement Memorial, located on the courthouse grounds in Beaver, PA, honors the memory of police officers who lost their lives in the performance of their official duties. In a ceremony held May 16, the eighteen Beaver County officers who have lost their lives since 1917 were remembered.

The Master of Ceremonies for the service was Chief Eric Hermick (Chippewa Township Police Department) and the Police Adjutant was Chief Steven Roberts (Bridgewater Police Department). Following the National Anthem sung by Alexa Speicher and Invocation given by Rev. Steven McKeown (Police Chaplain, Beaver Valley Lodge #4, F.O.P.), Nathan Bible, Esq. (Beaver County District Attorney) delivered the Law Enforcement Address. Daniel C. Camp III (Chairman, Beaver County Board of Commissioners) issued the County Proclamation. After the singing of God Bless America, Rev. McKeown prayed the Memorial Prayer, and Chief Steven Roberts led the Fallen Brothers Salute. The service concluded with the Rifle Salute by the F.O.P. Lodge #4 Honor Guard, Taps, and the Benediction by Rev. McKeown. Bagpipes were played by Glenn Angus (F.O.P. Lodge #4 Honor Guard).

Dedicated in 2003, the memorial is the result of a collaboration among Beaver Valley Chiefs of Police Association, Beaver Valley Lodge #4 F.O.P., James M. Naim Memorial Lodge #26, the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office of Beaver County, and the Beaver County Commissioners. The annual memorial service is held at the site in May on National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. Over the past 90 years, eighteen law enforcement officers have died in Beaver County in the performance of their official duties. The names of those officers are on the Law Enforcement Monument.

In 2024, two officers lost their lives in Pennsylvania: Constable Philip John Michael (Pennsylvania State Constable, Fayette County: June 6, 2024) and Police Officer Jaime Junior Roman (Philadelphia Police Department: September 10, 2024).
